Well it's the end of another month of retro fun. Let's look back at what I intended to do at the start of the month, and what I've actually done:
LC 475 server running and tweaking - The server has been pretty much looking after itself all month and has only dropped out once or twice due to power failures. I managed to eventually get the Dynamic DNS Client control panel working, and along with the startup script this means the server will automatically get itself back online and running after a power cut. I got the "About this server" page written up and since putting it online it has been one of the most popular pages on the site. I was hoping to get some more pages written this month but they will have to wait until I can find some time. They are likely going to include a Links section, more information about BBC and Acorn computers, and maybe a better downloads page. A work in progress I think.
BBC Model B - I really did not spend much time at all with my Beeb this month unfortunately. It's a pity because it is one of my most "retro" machines and is great fun to play around with. At least I for one short review written for the "Rubble Trouble" game.
SE/30 - This was remarkably successful. Over the last few days I set this up to run as a digital photo frame and the result is very impressive. I have had the machine running a few times displaying photos and it has attracted a few positive comments from those who have seen it. Now I just need to find somewhere good to put the machine and possibly fit a quieter hard drive as the current one is very noisy.
In other news, today saw some of the wildest weather we've had this Winter in SW Scotland. When I was at work, there was a power cut which left us with heavily reduced voltage for several hours. Remarkably we managed to keep the Macs running as they have dual-voltage power supplies so can accept from around 100V to 250V. I reckon we had about 120V tops in the office, which caused alot of problems with the network switches and unfortunately damaged a couple of the energy-saving light bulbs. One of the bulbs started smoking and got incredibly hot, so we turned them all off. It has really reduced my confidence in energy-saving bulbs I can tell you! There were also a few drop-outs of this server today due to intermittant power cuts, so apologies if anyone hasn't been able to access the site.
Well, that's all folks! It's been good reading all your blogs - there's been some great projects going on this month. I hope to be back for the July games with something exciting - exactly what I don't know yet!
Have fun!
